Red Lacewing "Cethosia biblis"
Red Lacewing "Cethosia biblis"

The underside of the Lacewing is one of the most ornate in the butterfly world. The species would have been seen commonly around the villages and would stand out from the drab greens and browns of the forest. The species name 'biblis' means writing and refers to the chevrons on the wing margins; the word 'bible' has the same derivation.
